I'm a little nauseous

I'm a little nauseous after looking for Mother's Day cards. Don't get me wrong, I love my mom a ton! And nothing makes me happier than my son's affection. But some of these cards having me gasping for air as I drown in the cheese. That's where the nausea sets in. I certainly don't want to insult anyone's attempt at art so I will not show examples. I'm sure you have already seen a few yourself. So, here are my picks for "Outstanding Mother's Day Card Design"

Wheel Barrows

Why is it that all kids love wheel barrows? We went over to our friend's house this weekend to garden in his backyard. We are trying to prep the soil so we can plant an herb and veggie garden (and fruit too - tomatoes!). I can't wait for the day that we have a yard to call our own and grow our own veggies. And the first thing we will buy will be a composter. It bugs me so much when we throw the peels and scraps in the trash. But until then we will happily dig in the dirt anywhere people will let us.

Shop Update

Ok, clearly spring has sprung for me. Everything I'm doing lately seems to be influenced by flowers and leaves and blue skies. Here are two new pieces that I just listed in my shop.

Papavers was inspired by these vintage playing cards that I picked up at an estate sale. It's like "where's Waldo". Can you find them on the cards?

My Aunt organizes Estate sales and I just got an email from her that she's doing one tomorrow that has a bunch of Danish Modern furniture. My heart is racing!!! I can't wait. I might have to rush out to it right after my trunk show.

Trunk Show

I am having a trunk show at Endeavor Talent Agency in Beverly Hills on Friday from 12:30 to 2:30. If you are in the area and would like to come please email me for more info. Free valet parking is available. You might even see a celebrity or two, and then again you may not see anyone.

Ok, speaking of celebrities, I am in Los Angeles so I see my fair share of celebrities on a weekly basis. But I had two interesting sightings this week that I thought I'd tell you about. The first one was so random. I was sitting at my desk working and I heard a couple car doors shut. Nothing out of the ordinary, but I just happen to peak out my apartment window to see who it was. Snoop Dogg was outside of my building!

Then just yesterday I was driving down Melrose and I saw all of the papparazzi. Just as I was wondering who it was they were after this Porsche pulls out in front of me and I slam on my brakes just in time to save the life of David and Victoria Beckham. I wonder how much money I would have gotten if they hit me. Think of all the new tools I could buy. Ok, not worth it since my son and two dogs were in the car, but had I been by myself.....maybe.

Free Necklace!

Just a reminder that I will be drawing a winner for my giveaway on Saturday (the day nobody reads blogs). If you want to enter to win this necklace please give me advice on upholstery. See here.

My Favorite Artist

I went to the LACMA with my son this morning. The batteries on my camera were dying so I only got a few shots. He loves to paint. I secretly am so happy about that...but no pressure, no pressure. The LACMA has a great kid's museum where kids can paint on these enormous easels, work on collages, build with this great block collection and so much more. I feel so lucky to have this within walking distance. Next time we'll have to go earlier though. Walking home at 2:30 in the blazing hot sun was not so fun.

My top 10

I took a cue from Paper Schmaper and put my iPod on shuffle. Yikes! I have a very strange collection, but it's a great way to rediscover some of my music. Here's what played in the first 10 songs:

1. I'm finding it harder to be a gentleman - White Stripes
2. The girl you lost to Cocaine - Sia
3. I still have that other girl - Elvis Costello and Burt Bacharach
4. Stay all night - Willie Nelson
5. Katie - Missy Higgins
6. Brick House - Cool and the Gang
7. Disc 6, Track 1 - Wayne Dyer (gotta love him!)
8. Fall behind me - The Donnas
9. Me, my yoke and I - Damien Rice
10. Love you out - Carla Werner

I also wanted to post a better picture of a piece that I make. I just had an order for this and thought I'd share it. Wouldn't you melt if someone had a pendant made for you that was personalized and it said Ti Amo - I love you in Italian? I would!
