Feeling Inspired

Do you ever come across something that resonates so deep in your soul that you can't help but be excited? Etsy has a featured seller every few days and while most of them sell/make things that are cute enough today's is above and beyond. Today's featured seller is Cart Before the Horse. I just LOVE their dolls. They are so original and come from a very beautiful corner of the artists' mind and soul.

To be honest I really am struggling with my creative process. The majority of my business now is selling to stores and I have a good idea of what they want. Sometimes knowing what is commercially viable is such a kill to my creativity. I feel so inspired after reading the interview with Dylan and Jo and pouring over their entire collection. I am vowing to spend some more time making pieces that are just for me, just for fun. While I am SO VERY grateful for all of my success I really need to give attention to the muse that got me here.

great post. i know exactly what you mean about coming across something that resonates deeply in your soul. that's how i feel anytime i look at chagall painting or a "keep calm and carry on" poster.

good luck with the creative process woes. we've all been there :)

I love those guys, Dylan and Jo and found them about 5 years ago on ebay. They are really cool and they did inspire my little riveted bird pendants so I know exactly what you mean by this post.

I am really impressed by the fact that you do sell to so many stores but I know that it almost makes what you do like any other job you'd like to get a vacation from.

You know what? When I started making things that I wanted for myself, I got really excited because that's when people started giving me more feedback about what I was making and it was all good.

While I know you are going to carry on filling your orders, maybe every once in a while you will follow through on making something very cool for yourself... after all you are definitely experienced and skilled with your medium, so use that talent and create something exciting and truly interesting to you!
