North Park Craft Mafia

Thanks to everyone that came out for the North Park Craft Mafia Spring Line-up show. It was so much fun! I loved all of the entertainment they planned. The bands were great, the dancers were incredible! and I thought the fashion show was so much fun. It was certainly a busy little place. I didn't take one picture, darn it! The only one I got was of this gorgeous bridge as I was leaving. I used to live in Hillcrest. I moved 10 years ago. I cannot believe it's been that long. Oh my how things change. North Park was not so nice back in the day. Now it is inspiring.

My next show is Patchwork in Long Beach. Hope to see you.

Postcard Exchange

I'm so excited. I got my very first postcards this week from the postcard exchange I signed up for. The first one I got was from a young lady in Poland with the most amazing handwriting. Gosh I need to work on my handwriting. Maybe writing postcards will be the perfect reason to practice my penmanship. The second postcard I got was from another young lady in Lisboa. Luckily the stamp says Portugal otherwise I would have never figured it out. Another reason this postcard exchange is good for me. My geography knowledge is rusty, to say the least.

Happy Easter Egg

As James would say, "Happy Easter Egg"

Forced Blog Love

Thanks to Stones and Starling for tagging my blog . My in-laws were in town for a while and I was sick on top of it so my poor little blog has been neglected. I'm glad I've got an easy way to visit my corner of the internet

Here are the rules:

1. Link to the person that tagged you.
2. Post the rules on your blog.
3. Share six non-important things/habits/quirks about yourself.
4. Tag six random people at the end of your post by linking to their blogs.
5. Let each random person know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their website.

Here are six non-important things/habits/quirks about me:

1. I can't stand clutter. Too many piles of books or magazines can send me into a hyperventilating tizzy. The show "Clean Sweep" saved my life. I rid myself of unnecessary items and now I am much calmer.

2. I love Sponge Bob!

3. My hair is cut in an A-line (reverse mullet). You know longer in front than in back. I have a habit of twirling my 2 longs pieces of hair and wrapping them up into tiny Princess Leia buns on top of my ears.

4. Math is my crack. I love Sudoku puzzles because anything involving numbers makes me really happy (unless it's balancing my checkbook). Thank god I don't write checks anymore.

5. I obsess about the urban planning of my son's train set. I will set up the tracks and if he tries to change it I get really annoyed. Maybe I should have been a civil engineer.

6. One of my favorite foods is cottage cheese with pepperoncinis.

Here are the blogs that I am tagging:

1. Kootoyoo
2. CurlyPops
3. Mom O Matic
4. Auroramaeh
5. Katalatabata
6. Papaververt

They are all very nice people!

DIY Contest

There is a DIY contest going on right now at Design Sponge. You should go check it out. I am amazed by some of the projects. I had a hard time choosing between 3 of them. These are the three I especially liked:

What talent! You can see all of the projects here. There are 20 entries so be sure to look at the other pages as well. And then cast your vote here. My project did not get chosen, oh well!

I'm sure you're already aware of how much I love this blog, but also on Design Sponge she launched a new job board. You can post your resume and also see job listings. It was just launched but I'm sure that soon enough there will be some great jobs up there.

My newest friend ~ Lady Bird Incognito

This is my newest friend to the collection of "the people in my head" series. Haha! There's not really a series. I can make as many new friends as I'd like!
So let me introduce you to "Lady Bird Incognito":
You'd never know....if it weren't for the short dress, you'd never know... and there they are...the bird legs! It's a lady. It's a bird. It's Lady Bird Incognito. Caught in an alley with her bags of couture purchases. Someone has flown the nest to do a little incognito shopping. Can you blame her?

I just listed this for sale in my shop. I hope you like it. This is a personal favorite of mine:) Maybe because she's my alter ego.

Taxes make my head hurt

I am so exhausted from trying to get everything together for my taxes. I swear, every year I say I'm going to be more organized and keep better track of everything. And in the end this year I did better than before, I still have so much crap to go through. And it feels like I should know how to make this simpler. There should be a super simple, intuitive way of organizing and keeping track without having masses of paper and receipts overflowing every corner of my apartment. Any suggestions out there? I would really, really appreciate it.

Any software that you think is great? I'd love to have it all on the computer so my husband and I aren't sitting at the table for hours adding up receipts. Not to mention, neither of us own a real calculator. I was using my Blackberry and he was using his laptop. This is what I want in a perfect world - an accountant who does it all for me. But in a slightly imperfect world I'd take a software program that allows me to itemize my receipts for supplies, equipment, advertising, fees.... I'm sure something out there exists, right? I don't need all of the fancy stuff like "production schedule" and "shipping schedule", although maybe shipping would be helpful. ok, clearly I don't know what I need.

Any suggestions would be wonderful! So wish me luck. Tomorrow I see my accountant and hopefully she doesn't scold me (which she really wouldn't, she's the nicest lady!).
