Words cannot express how happy I am today. Obama being elected President seems like a dream. I have spent all day listening to interviews with Americans all across the country on Public Radio today. I can't tell you how many times my eyes have teared up. This is a wonderful possibility for our future! Here is a video that I think sums it all up. INTER-CONNECTEDNESS

Its amazing how emotional I felt down in SA myself. The whole of SA is celebrating. I cried my eyes out and then I went to work and became supper productive. Its hope I guess but its a hell of a thing i tell you
I am personally elated that Obama won. But I find this election to be a bit bittersweet, since Prop 8 passed in California, and Amendment 2 passed in Florida.
I suppose breaking multiple barriers in one election was too grand a hope.
Cori, I completely agree. I wanted to just post about the great news and appreciate the strides we have made.
But, it is definitely bittersweet. I guess it takes time to overcome all prejudices and discrimination. The fight for equality will continue and in time gay and lesbians will have equal rights. -yes we can;)
I truly hope Obama does a great job as the next President. It does show how far our nation has come over the years, giving hope to people of all nationalities. He has a tall task ahead of him, but (Lord willing) our Nation will rise out of these trouble times. Hopefully the hate will stop on both sides. If we can't work together we will continue to fall.
Prop 8 thoughts, where do we draw the line? Should there be no line? Does tolerance mean everything is okay? Who gets to draw the line? If a line is drawn, that means someone is on the other side looking out.
Logan, I agree that Obama has a tall task in front of him. I am confident that we have chosen the correct person to lead us through these difficult times.
I REALLY appreciate your thoughts on Prop 8. Marriage has always been a right for humans. That's the line. It is a legal binding "contract", if you will, so it is actually a matter of government, not church. Because of the legal responsibilities there should be an age limit - 18. Because of the genetic implications, siblings should not be allowed to marry. So that's where I feel the line is drawn.
